“Prelude to Spring”

Entertaining has always been a passion of mine, from preparing the food to setting a lovely table.  Over the years, I’ve been so fortunate to have been featured in many magazines including Traditional Home, Southern Living and Southern Lady for entertaining and table design.  In Southern Lady’s February 2016 issue, you’ll see one of my table settings, “Prelude to Spring”.

Drawing inspiration from Mottahedeh’s Tobacco Leaf design of china, warm pinks, azure blues and vivid yellows were selected.  A light azure blue tablecloth was used to anchor the table. Tall antique flower buckets are full of antique roses, from my dear friend, Eleanor Loring’s rose garden, accompanied with parrot tulips and blue hydrangea. These dramatic centerpieces really set the table off!  I also used soft rose-colored wine glasses from Phoenix Crystal, to pull the pink tones from the china.

I wanted to keep the feeling light, casual and whimsical, so some playful touches were added.  Always looking for new and unique place card ideas, and for this tablescape I found wooden birdcage tags, which help display each guest’s name and double as napkin rings.  This small detail ties in with the ivy-filled birdcages nestled in between the floral arrangements, adding a fun and personal touch to the entire table setting.Picture1
